Seamless Commercial Plumbing Expansion & Permit Coordination
A mid-construction design change on a Coquitlam commercial tenant improvement — resolved through direct coordination with the general contractor and the municipal plumbing department, without disrupting the build schedule.
The Situation
VIA Plumbing was selected to complete the plumbing scope for a commercial tenant improvement project in the City of Coquitlam. The original bid and project planning were based on the latest engineered drawings submitted by the general contractor to the municipality for permit approval.
During the plumbing rough-in stage, the owner requested an additional mop sink that was not included in the original design — a live scope change that needed sign-off from the Authority Having Jurisdiction without stalling the job site.
How VIA Coordinated It
Five stages, same structure throughout — from the original bid to a fully compliant close-out.
Selected for the TI Scope
VIA Plumbing is selected to complete the plumbing scope for a commercial tenant improvement project. The bid and project planning are built on the latest engineered drawings already submitted to the municipality for permit approval.
Mid-Construction Design Change
During the plumbing rough-in stage, the owner requests an additional mop sink that wasn't part of the original design — a fixture that now needs to be added to the approved permit scope.
Coordinating with the AHJ
VIA works directly with the general contractor and the City of Coquitlam's municipal plumbing department to revise the scope, incorporate the additional fixture, and process the required permit and inspection steps.
Seamless Installation, No Schedule Slip
With the revised scope approved, VIA's team coordinates the fixture installation on site — keeping the rough-in moving forward without waiting on paperwork to catch up.
Documentation & Compliant Close-Out
All final documentation is properly completed and filed. The project delivers a fully compliant commercial plumbing solution — without disrupting the overall construction schedule.
